Vampire Hunter D by Hideyuki Kikuchi, Yoshitaka Amano
Did not finish book. Stopped at 37%.
Someone described this book series as pulpy, and I can't help but to agree.
From the poorly developed universe; to the sometimes contradictory lore; to the author's obsession with the tropes of femme fatale, damsel in distress, and a protagonist we can't help but be reminded of how dashing he is every other paragraph; this book has it all!
If you can't help being conscious while you read, maybe it's best to avoid this novel. The animated movies are significantly better.
