This is a fantastic coming of age romance, in which very real issues are addressed in a mature way, with two main characters that I easily related with, and found myself emotionally attached to.

Blake is such a good example of a true leader, both on and off the ice.
It was refreshing to see such a sports- forward hockey romance, as I believe most that I have read in the past few years only briefly touch on the sport/game in question and leave a lot to be desired, when true fans want all the action packed details of heated exchanges, and the scoring of goals on page.
I truly felt for him during his struggles with his family dynamic, and his constant striving to be what they needed him to be,all while desperately seeking to fulfill his dreams and achieve his personal goals. I think this is something everyone can identify with in certain aspects, and the author did a great job helping the reader connect and empathize with his character.

Amanda was a wonderful FMC, who had overcome so much adversity in her young life and I respected her immensely. Her determination and drive were admirable qualities.
She and Blake had great chemistry, and the openness and honesty in their relationship was so believable that you couldn’t help but want the two of them to get their hard earned happily ever after.
I would like to see more of our characters, and it’s my understanding that their book is the next in the series, which I am greatly looking forward to.
