hiking_reader 's review for:
The Desert Spear
by Peter V. Brett
I've revisited this series for 2022. I read book one in the first half of 2021 and enjoyed it enough to want to continue the series. I really like a lot of the storyline so far even if I am put off a bit with the constant sexual scenarios and descriptions. I can't really say I'd enjoy it any more or less without it being in there though. There is always a chance removing a lot of that would change the characters so much it wouldn't be the same story. But those parts definitely aren't what I usually like to read in my free time.
***Spoiler***
I was also a bit torn in the beginning of The Desert Spear as we began seeing the world through the eyes of Arhmann Jardir. The sour taste the character left in my mouth from the first book made it difficult to begin a new with him in The Desert Spear. Even then the story twisting and turning showing his good and not so good point of view towards the world and his destiny were difficult at times. But I'm two books in now and unless something drastically changes in the next couple of books I'm in this series for the long haul!
