Goodnight Punpun, Vol. 1 by Inio Asano
4.0
(this is a review for the entire series, too much clutter to do all the different volumes)
I started this off as a bit of an asano hater, sorry fans, but I really didn't enjoy nijigahara holograph. I've also tried and failed getting into punpun once or twice but been put off by the crass humor, the art style and tone. those things do still bother me but examining the manga as a whole I get that it's not your average coming of age story.
I read that when this was being published the number of readers fell as the story got darker and darker, but for me the opposite was true, I think it could've pushed even further into the depths of our protagonists psyche.
