Groupies: A Novel by Sarah Priscus

4.0

Skimming through other reviews, I can definitely understand why other people didn't entirely enjoy this book. It does read as some kind of cautionary tale of 'don't take drugs, don't bang rockstars,' but I really enjoyed the story throughout. The author was definitely inspired by Almost Famous, no question about it, and I do wish there was a little more to the plot other than the characters aimlessly drifting and the plot twist 75% of the way into the book. It took me less than two days to read it and I was hooked from the very first line, but I didn't expect it to be anything profound.

I will say, I despised the main character Faun. That didn't mean the book was entirely unreadable for me, but I could see why characters called her a 'stuck-up bitch' behind her back. She *was* riding the coattails of Josie's groupie fame and trying to emulate her, but she kept falling short every time. That was. from my understanding, the whole point of her character.
