The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson
5.0
Man. Sanderson really does love his last-paragraph-of-the-book bomb-drops, doesn’t he?
That was so great. Definitely my favorite in the Wax & Wayne series thus far. There were so many wonderful, hilarious, sweet, terrifying, heart-wrenching, and mind-blowing moments.
Characters that I didn’t love so much in the beginning, such as Steris, quickly became my favorites. And characters that started good but dropped in quality in book two (*cough* Marasi *cough*) were wonderfully redeemed in this novel.
It’s still nowhere near as good as the First Era Trilogy. But it’s pretty damn fantastic. Better, at least, than 90% of the stuff out there.
Also, Wayne is king. That’s all.
