ARC review:
Let me start by saying that this is a fast-paced fantasy read that I jumped into and remained glued to through the end.
There were some minor, and likely subjective issues, that I noted while reading but it didn't change my overall desire to continue reading through the end. It was fairly obvious that this was a debut novel, a fair amount of words and phrases were repeated throughout and some aspects felt rushed but the story is intriguing. For as short as the book is, the characters and the magic-system are developed fairly well and I continued to feel connected enough that I wanted to learn more. The book could've used more pages to dive more into what felt a little lacking but hopefully the sequel makes up for it. Overall, it's a good debut novel and I'll definitely pick up the second to see how it continues.
