This is an average modern-day romance. Everyone is tortured and angsty, with the exception of the token Asian girl who is quirky and disrespectful, but like, "in a cute way." The book isn't anything wildly original, but for readers who love this genre, all the conventions are right where they're supposed to be. This author knows how to write for her target audience.
