I loved the dual timelines and multiple points of view. Haven's story is a present timeline and is in 1st person. Mari's story on the other hand takes place in 1821 and is told in 3rd person almost like someone is telling her story...The addition of Holmes POV and the Mozza brothers' letters kept it interesting!

I had such a fun time trying to piece together and figure out the mystery! I buddy read this with my best friend, and we spent over an hour each week brainstorming and bouncing theories off each other!

I am a Potterhead at heart, so I loved the magical elements! For all the Disney lovers, I think if you are a fan of Moana, you will really appreciate the connection the Strega have to the sea.

I primarily read romance, so I was happy that there was just enough of it to keep this hopeless romantic invested!

My only complaint was since there were multiple timelines and many characters it was a bit hard to remember who everyone was. Mainly with the side characters, a few times I forgot how they related to each other and the impact they had on the story. I think a character tree would have been helpful.
