Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano

Did not finish book. Stopped at 21%.
There are some things I need to get off my chest about this novel.

As someone who loves and adores Alcott’s Little Women deeply, I really wanted to like this but I just could not. Two of the sisters (Julia and Sylvie) were insanely unlikable and if not that, they were just flat—specifically the twins. William was a sore loser. Their mother irked.

The writing consists of too many what’s—what they are feeling, saying and doing. Too little why’s. The lack of it made me feel detached from the characters, as if I’m just a stranger looking into their house.

Maybe this would have been an okay read if this novel was not marketed as a modern retelling of Little Women.
