I really really enjoyed this! Steinbeck's prose is great, very accessible and just drew me through this story so easily. I'm looking forward to reading more of his works in the future!
I was pleasantly surprised by how simple of a story this was on surface level, because it really allowed the themes to shine. This was a really succinct and poignant story. The characters were sympathetic and evoked emotions in a straightforward way that really worked with how short this book is.
Not to mention I can relate to their struggle of never being able to buy a house, lol.
