The Life Impossible
by Matt Haig
I don't know exactly how to classify this book, but I'm going to dub it "inspirational fantasy." I didn't care for the fantastical side of it so much, maybe because I was simply expecting something different, and that's on me. I did appreciate the overarching theme of the story, wherein the main character is able to renew her lease on life through reluctantly discovering a greater purpose and supernatural ability. Grace is a charming and relatable protagonist. I know nothing about Ibiza, so it was interesting to gain some knowledge of it through the character's POV, but the villain being "big tourism" had a plodding effect on my reading experience. I don't know, it felt like the plot of Yellowstone to me and just made me yawn. This book was mostly enjoyable; however, I don't plan on adding it to my re-read pile.
