Hidden Gem by Skye Warren

5.0

Synopsis:
Holly comes from a family of explorers and is enjoying her time at the Louvre. She’s visiting with her parents and her sister, London. That is where she meets Elijah for the first time, in Paris. A complete stranger, she’s as excited as anything to explore the city with him while her family continues with their sightseeing trip. But she has her misgivings too. He is a stranger, after all.

How will it end, this relationship? Between a simple girl and an unknown man.

Review:
A prequel novella to the book, Diamond in the Rough; this is the story of sixteen-year-old Holland Frank who goes on an instant date with a security guard, eighteen-year-old Elijah Smith. She’s different from her family, in that she much prefers to curl up with a book rather than go visit the catacombs. They may be as thick as thieves, but she’s different from her sister too. She wishes that some boy would look at her, only her. Living under her older (and popular) sister’s shadow can be hard. But a new place means time for a new adventure! And so she sneaks out on a date with this mysterious man. A man who himself warns that he’s dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.

This is the first book I’m reading by [a:Skye Warren|5339130|Skye Warren|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1580833030p2/5339130.jpg]. And the prose is melting in my mouth. There’s something overpowering about her writing. Something that keeps you reading till late in the night.

Holly’s parents are overprotective, after something that happened in her past. They worry for her, the reserved one of their two daughters. This novella is about innocence while the book that comes after is dark and dangerous.

Thank you to Valentine PR for an e-ARC of the book.

My review of the books in the Diamond Series is as follows:
Hidden Gem (Prequel Novella) | Diamond in the Rough | Gold Mine | Silver Lining
