One for the Money by Janet Evanovich

5.0

This book was fantastic! My mother’s friend has been suggesting this series to me over and over again, and for some reason I haven’t gotten around to it. Boy, was that a mistake! The book immediately pulled me in with Stephanie Plum’s cynical, sarcastic remarks to every little thing. There were times when I was laughing out loud in response to the smallest remarks Stephanie would make. The characters that Janet Evanovich created in this book were amazingly real and complex. I found myself turning the pages, wanting to know what was happening next. The story was intriguing, what with Stephanie learning to be a bounty hunter after being laid off from her discount lingerie position. Needless to say, it was interesting to see what would happen next in her adventures of learning the trade. Also, Benito Ramirez was another character that blew my socks off. And not in a good way. Evanovich was able to portray Ramirez in the perfect way: creepy, dark, and crazy. I honestly had chills running up my spine after reading scenes in which he was involved in. Evanovich really did wonders with his characterization.

I loved this book. It kept me up way past my “bedtime” because I just had to finish the last couple of chapters. I immediately started the next book, Two For The Dough. I have a feeling I’m going to be reading a lot more of these books sometime in the near future!
