The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcolm X

5.0

I feel privileged to have read this book. It is a beautiful book, and an important one. Consider it an essential chapter in the struggle of African America, and required reading. Malcolm X is described as a firebrand, and he does justice to how he was perceived throughout this book. He is brutally honest throughout the text, both to others, and about himself. Perhaps most impressively, he demanded justice; he did not advocate for change the way we are used to activism in the 21st century. He was unapologetic in his insistence for change, and didn't rest for a moment until his death. There is much room for criticism of the man himself, but he is undeniably a leader, even today, and an essential force in the winds of change.
