I had rave reviews from friends about this book but ultimately I was left wanting more.

It's pitched as an examination of family and roots etc but I found that Akua didn't have any motivation except to spend time with the woman she has a crush on.

We find out very little about her family at all and why it was so disjointed. The book was too short to do all of the things it was trying to do, so ended up doing none of them well.

This felt like a first draft that could have been double the length.
