From the start I had trouble with this book: it‘s full of misogyny, some racism, and the author was a Nazi sympathizer. I read this to learn about Norway and read Norwegian literature (I’ve been doing ancestry research), but I’ve read enough and will move on to something else. The story held my interest for 60% but the recurrent theme of infanticide was the reason I finally decided to stop reading. There are other books set in Norway that I’d rather spend my time reading.
