I'm so glad to have finally read something by Roxane Gay. She's an author I've been meaning to read for as long as I've been a reader, and this short story collection was a great introduction into her writing. With some of the stories being only 2 pages long, I was worried they would fall flat or feel devoid of substance, but Gay manages to pour so much passion and humanity into every single story in this collection and I adored it.
