Slightly Married by Mary Balogh
3.0

This is the first book of the Bedwyn Saga by Mary Balogh. When one of Colonel Aidan Bedwyn's soldiers dies on the battlefield, Aidan promises the man that he will personally deliver the news of his death and take care of her--no matter what. Eve is distraught when she hears that her brother has died. Eve's father's will states that her home, Ringwood Manor, will belong to her for one year after he dies. After the one year anniversary of her father's death, the home will pass on to her brother. Eve's brother dies before the one year mark has passed, so she will lose her home and it will go to a distant cousin. In order to let her keep her home, Aidan marries Eve. When the Duke of Bedwyn, Aidan's older brother, finds out about the marriage, Eve must present herself to society. This book shows the unique relationship between Wulfric, Duke of Bedwyn, and his siblings. You can tell that it is setting the stage for the second book in the series. I enjoyed seeing the relationship grow between Eve and Adian. Eve is a strong, independent, kind woman. It was refreshing to see her stand up for herself. Fans of historical romance will enjoy this book.
