Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century by Alice Wong

3.0

Interesting and informative but I felt much like an abled person who crashed a disabled party. A little awkward, a little confused—lots of questions that I’m not sure are appropriate. My discomfort though is exactly the point. Abled people have been allowed ignorance of disabled peoples’ lives because it doesn’t come up in their everyday lives. This anthology states quite clearly that it is time for that to change.
