Thank you Kensington Publishing for the ARC copy!
Blood Slaves is just superior alternative historical fiction.
Of course just by the synopsis you are drawn to the premise of black slaves becoming vampires and freeing themselves, but what keeps you is 100% Markus Redmond’s writing and level of storytelling. I’m all for descriptive writing, and being able to paint a vivid picture of all the scenes in my head, and Redmond has definitely proven himself a master of that craft.
I was staying up late into the night reading! I was rooting for Willie at every point boy. I got scared towards the end there, but all prevailed.
This is such an amazing debut, and I absolutely cannot wait for book 2.
