The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
by Junot Díaz, Junot Díaz
Amazing story, amazing style.
From fascist regimes to the mirage of supernatural, from futile attempts to unearth oneself out of depressive self loathing, from sex android violence to the subtle yet swarming power of diaspora, from love to infidelity, this book takes you into the journey of exploration / reflection and most importantly dreams of regaining what one thinks they really are. The desire to be validated and utter thirst to be loved.
I liked the way this book swings you from urban lethargy to exotic back country and at the same time also forces you to reevaluate the stereotyped life of comfort versus clichéd notion of paradise back home.
I loved it.

Note to self: first impressions, writing, craft of fiction, style.
