Saga, Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan

4.0

Alana was a terrible soldier, from planet Landfall, who was charged with watching prisoners. Marko, from Landfall's moon Wreath, was a prisoner. The two fall in love, run away, and have a baby. That's when this story begins. The ruling classes of both species are very concerned with this union - and also determined to get the baby alive for reasons currently unknown.

The artwork is terrific. Marko's noble intentions to live a peaceful life with his new family plays off of Alana' determination that nobody else matters except for her husband and her newborn daughter Hazel. The two are adorable. My only issue with this is how badly I now want to read the rest of them.
