Queen's Peril by E.K. Johnston
4.0

Pretty good. Fills in some blanks of characters from pre-Episode I: Phantom Menace to the end of Phantom Menace. If you’re expecting this series to be all about Padme, you would be wrong. This series is about all the handmaids together.

I do think Johnston does an amazing job of taking the tone of different characters, such as Maul and Palpatine. So many Star Wars books are written by men and I HIGHLY appreciate a female gaze, a female perspective and voice. It’s refreshing and enjoyable.

As far as story, it took a few chapters to get into and was not as good as the Queen’s Shadow. Also do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook, it’s very, very enjoyable. Music, sound effects, the voice of The Clone Wars Padme, just do it, any Star Wars fan will love.
