Bourbon & Lies by Victoria Wilder
5.0
This book consumed me! The way I was sucked into this world. I want to eat live and breathe all things Foxx, Bourbon and Fiasco, Kentucky. I started it Monday night - continued Tuesday while I was at work and finished it in the parking lot at work after work before going home because i needed to finish it- I needed to see how it ended. I was invested in these characters and their lives and their story. I want to be in that world and that’s the best thing about reading. When a story just sucks you into their world and you get lost it in, you can see what they see, smell what they smell and feel what they feel - that’s an amazing feeling & I got that from this
Laney is such a badass - I love her so much. How she carries herself, her quick smart mouth, how she doesn’t back down from no one or nothing. Grant - ugh this man. The mouth on him but also the way this man fell hard for the woman he didn’t expect. From now on call me fvcking “HONEY” because the way he made honey sound so good (and I say that because I can hear it in my head). And THEM TWO TOGETHER - they have this playfulness, flirtatious banter and you can feel the chemistry / tension from the get.
And it wasn’t just them two that made me love this book it was the side characters as well. The friendship between Laney and Hadley. The amazing relationship between the Foxx men. The nieces who were adorable and Jules. It was everything and more than what I was expecting.
Without giving too much away Laney ends up in the world of the Foxx men, the Bourbon boys because of something she did to save someone’s life. She basically had to leave her old life behind and start a new one with a new identity being told not to share anything that might put her in danger but she meets Grant - a retired cop, a grump, cowboy and someone who has endured heartache and has closed off his heart to everyone, he’s surviving. There is a rumor involving the Foxx men that the women they love end up dead and he tries really hard not to fall for the ginger who showed up and made him question everything. He has met his match with Laney.
I love their story and I am looking forward to the rest of the Foxx men stories
