Comics Will Break Your Heart by Faith Erin Hicks

4.0

I adored it, even when some of the logistics got a little clunky toward the end. (That fight? Weldon’s mom’s choice?) I loved how Hicks tackled the changes in comic culture. I grew up on the baseball card show circuit, and that shift was very much a part of my experience. I also liked how many adults there were present in both of the main characters lives. It held back the swoon but all the complexity they brought to the relationship felt very realistic. The overall premise is just delightful and shit-starting Weldon is my kind of romantic lead.
