Avengers vs. Thanos by Don Heck, Steve Englehart, John Buscema, Jim Starlin, Mick Zeck, Bob Brown, Mike Friedrich, Steve Gerber

4.0

As somewhat of a DC partisan, as least in earlier days, I never got around to reading much Silver and Bronze Age Marvel stuff. Until now. I must say, I seem to have previously absorbed most of what happens in the various (and numerous) appearances of Thanos throughout the Marvel Universe chronicled herein through nerd cultural osmosis. As such, it was a delight to finally read the seminal stories of characters like Mar-Vell, the Destroyer, Gamora, and Adam Warlock, with whose comics personas I was before only very vaguely familiar. While I admit to growing impatient with the convoluted plots and interminable recaps and exposition, the volume is chock full of fantastic "House of Ideas" artwork by Jim Starlin, Don Heck, John Buscema, and others, as well as a panoply of great inkers. Lots of fun!
