I absolutely loved this. Kuang did a phenomenal job writing this Historic fantasy. The author includes footnotes that not only explains the languages and History referenced, but also to further back up the plot and character backgrounds. The footnotes truly added to the novel.
I loved the political system the more deep into the plot the story delves. Kuang did amazing with building the magical element with the translated words etched onto silver bars, giving energy to the silver to be used for a variety a purposes.
Highly recommend for Historic fantasy fans, especially if you have enjoyed RF Kuang’s writing from The Popy War trilogy. Kuang has only improved in her writing and I am looking forward to reading other books from her in the future.
