Maame
by Jessica George
Deservedly buzzy, I think, especially for a debut. Didn't know it would hit so close to home with a main premise being the loss of the protagonist's father. But I appreciated her very real feelings of regret, anger and despair in the face of this loss. It was Jessica's acknowledgments at the end that definitely made me cry. I think there's a lot of sweetness in this book.
