The conflict between the Talvery and Cross families finally erupts in the suspenseful Merciless climax, and Aria and Carter's forbidden love is about to be put to the ultimate test. In addition to filling in some gaps that didn't make sense to Aria, this final book provides further information about her past and ultimately not only clarifies everything but also slightly breaks her heart. In actuality, the author pulled off a very cunning ruse. Even though Aria is voluntarily with Carter in this book, she still has to come to terms with the knowledge that someone she loves will undoubtedly die in this conflict between families. He's not happy, and neither is she. More drama unfolds, secrets are divulged, and Carter at last feels regret for what he did. Although Carter and Aria's tale comes to a satisfactory conclusion at the end of this book, we haven't seen the last of the Cross brothers.

“As long as you forgive me, I’ll forgive you of any and every sin you’ve ever dared commit. Just love me. All I want is you, Aria. I can’t lose you.”
