Bloom
by Kevin Panetta
Bloom is such a cute queer graphic novel about a couple boys falling in love through a bakery connection.
I see a lot of people critiquing Ari, and I absolutely see where they're coming from, but at the same time, he's a young kid? He's not going to have his emotions in check, or fully know what he's doing with his life. In his head he's got his dad shoving his dad's life down his throat.
Plus with it being a graphic novel, not everything can be shown or conveyed on the page like they can with an all text novel, sometimes we have to use our imaginations and believe the characters for what they see. There were times where characters were calling each other out when they were being jerks, some learned from their mistakes, others didn't. Classic coming of age story in my eyes.
And the art style? It was so beautiful, I loved it.
