Статский советник by Boris Akunin
3.0
I have,,,,,,mixed feelings about this volume.
For one it took me DAYS to read the first half and just one sitting to read the second half,,,,which isn’t a good sign in terms of pacing but TBH?? I see why the book took its time to establish characters on both sides because man,,,I did care for them in the end :’) which I’ve learned I should never do in any of these books.
Fandorins plot armor at this point has got to be almost satirical it’s straight up HILARIOUS homeboy jumps off a building and is just,,,,fine,,,,iconic. Literally every time Boris Akunin doesn’t know how to maneuver Fandorin out of a situation he goes “but luckily he learned this ancient technique in Japan that will allow him to [insert insane thing]”. Usually that would bother me but man,,,Erast is so charming I can’t hate anything about him.
AND THE EPILOGUE? chefs kiss
such a perfect wrap up
