Digger by Brooke Summers
5.0

This is the third book in the Fury Vipers MC series and although you can read it as a stand-alone it’s much better if you’ve read the others in this series. There are lots of overlap between the different characters and a continuation of a theme running through the books. Well this book features Octavia (Tavia) Michaels and Tate (Digger) Miller. Both have been periphery characters in previous books and finally we get to hear their story.

It’s fair to say that Tavia has definitely been through the wringer where here relationships are concerned. Her previous boyfriend River was a very dangerous man and what Tavia endured at his hands was horrific. But she managed to escape although didn’t come out of those encounters unscathed. Octavia may have a handle on her work life but her personal life is a whole other matter. As far as relationships go the occasional hookup is fine but anything more well it’ll take a long time for her to move on from what her ex did to her. But then she meets Digger, her heart is all in but her head well that’s reliving the hell she went through. Add to that Digger is in an MC like her ex was and really she wants to run for the hills but the connection she has with Digger well she just wants him and that scares her.

All in all she very messed up you really felt for Tavia, the flashbacks she has are heartbreaking. But while she sees herself as damaged and “mental” all Digger wants is to be there and help her. I loved not just her relationship with Effie but Benji and especially Cage.

Digger has always been about all things MC, his brothers are the family he created for himself. He has his fun but his priority is the Fury Viper’s. That is until two things happen an unexpected phone call revealing a son he didn’t know existed and meeting Octavia. Family and protecting his people are his be all and end all. I loved his relationship with Cage, he’s barely reaching his teens and has already been through hell but the way Digger interacts with his son and develop their relationship is lovely. Also how he is with Tavia, Digger is a hard man not at all afraid to get his hands dirty but that’s not all he is. The love and how he cares for Tavia well he’s determined that she is cherished and protected. But keeping Tavia safe that’s not as easy as it could be with old enemies out to finish what River started.

This was a heart wrenching read at times and there are some aspects of this story that can be very triggering. So be warned. This was a brilliant book that I could not put down there was plenty romance and lots of action but also quite emotional. The way it tackled the affects Tavia’s previous trauma had on her mental/ emotional health and how those around her reacted to this did elevate the story substantially for me. This wasn’t just lip service but for me it actually enhanced the whole character development of all of the players in this book. You really get invested in what was happening and it was also a great continuation of the overall Hangman’s Disciple drama. The action and the surprises just kept coming and the overall storytelling was brilliant. This book gave you a bit of everything but most importantly it also gave you a HEA for Tavia, Digger and their own little family. This book is full of danger but also unexpected family and the lengths a club will go to to keep those they love safe. Now I can’t wait for Ace’s story.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
