The 100
by Kass Morgan
Series review since I read all four in two days:
This is a decidedly mid book series, but has the magnetic pull to keep reading, as those mid/teen aughts YA books were wont to contain regardless. Which is why I read all of the books nonstop, and really enjoyed all of them.
Now, I am a big fan of the show and watched it first, probably similarly to everyone who reads/has read these, especially these days. The show is far better, but I liked seeing the bones of the storyline (at least for the first 4 seasons or so) in these books, in a slightly different form. I was here for a Bellarke HEA and I got it. Bonus was that Octavia is canonically queer. (Clarke isn't, sadly) but I did appreciate the variety of queer side characters and it was nbd, all chill and inclusive without it being a THING. The character of Glass dealt with lots of heavy shit I was surprised to find in a YA book, though it isn't overly descriptive (she has a miscarriage; also an attempted SA). It is overall moderately dark for YA of the era, but mild compared to what is in YA nowadays. It is creative and fun and hard to put down. I recommend reading them if you love the show, I am not sure how much people would get attached if they haven't seen the show, since half of my pull was seeing my favorite characters in an AU.
