there were so many portions of this book that were so beautifully written i immediately knew this would be above a 4 star.

i LOVED the deal with the devil allusion tied to gatsby, loved the twist at the end about nick.

there were so many elements of this book i really liked but there’s a lot in between that let’s it down. jordan isn’t a likeable character but i found i could still easily appreciate her prominent flaws and impact on the story. there were some elements that were admittedly confusing for me, especially as i don’t really read magical realism often, however i will probably always think back to this book fondly because for the most part i really enjoyed reading it.
