Zazie in the Metro by Raymond Queneau

Joyous and wild. Absolutely loved reading this. Loved it.
It just lights you up to read it, a playful, transgressing book from a time when France was beginning to where from post war gloom and looking to create a future.
The translation is exquisite; how tricky it must be with the confabulations, amalgamations, elisions and general verbal chicanery.
And the story this among through it all like an Asterix or some other freewheeling BD carnage.
