This book had just about everything I love; vampires, queer romance, an exciting and lovable ensemble, and a story spanning decades. I loved the author's sense of humor. With vegetarian vampires, a long-suffering and self-restraining romantic lead, talents based on human traits, a golden haired doctor-turned-vampire who never once let his bloodlust hurt a human, I feel like I can tell that the author was a Twilight kid, which is a plus for me (because so was I). But don't let that fool you, this is a mature, bloody vampire romance with complex lore all its own. Only downside was that it dragged at times.
