Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel

What can I say about this book in few enough words so as not to bore people? This book made me cry. It is beautiful, poetic, quite a bit sad, but in a good way. I flew through this book in just a few hours. I wanted to go out and buy my own copy so I could annotate it immediately. I did hear, after finishing it, that one should read The Glass Hotel first, because some of the characters are the same and it leaves some Easter eggs for this book as well, but I thought it worked just fine as a standalone. I mean, it made me cry on its own. It reminded me very much of Cloud Atlas. I will stand by that comparison. There are a handful of lives tied together in different ways (but in the end, it is the same way). I just love stories of connectivity like that. I think I'm giving up. I can't sum up this book in a way that satisfies me. I absolutely loved it, it might be one of my favorite books of the year but also overall, and I would read it again and again.
