christinebooks 's review for:
The Duke and I
by Julia Quinn
Disclaimer: this book contains explicit sex.
I decided to finally see what all the buzz was about and read this book. It was highly readable, well written and exactly what you expect from a regency romance novel: people talking, drama and marriage.
This book was a bit more drama-filled than I would prefer (it felt like a Jerry Springer episode at a few points). And it was far more sexually explicit than I enjoy in my books.
Age recommendation = Mature Adult. Contains innuendos, some language, drinking, manipulation, explicit sex (several chapters worth) and a sprinkle of domestic violence.
For modern regency/victorian romance fiction, I prefer Mimi Matthews books (superior stories, more intricate plots, far more dynamic characters and much less explicit).
