"Like most normal people, Claire viewed phone calls the same way she viewed flavored gin: with suspicion, and as a last resort only."

a lighthearted and funny mystery novel. the tone was a bit ridiculous, but it made me think of a kind of parody of Knives Out, not for everyone, though. the supernatural element was fine, but i wish we'd have more of the general seance and ghosts nagging at each other.

Grave Expectations can be summarised as a cosy crime mystery with ghosts, but as we read, it becomes more centred on the journey and character interactions than crime solving.
