I did like this book, but it took me  a while to get past the fact that this was not the book I was expecting. It's much less "epic sci-fi adventure about a family who travels through time" and more "character-centric drama about intergenerational trauma while 1 character time travels". It was fairly slow paced. The ending was a tad too happily ever after for me, but I wasn't mad about it since I did really grow to love the characters and wanted them to be happy in the end.

I think I would have liked this more if my expectations weren't set for a different genre......
