The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

4.0

I loved the Percy Jackson books so much that I was worried I wasn't going to like these, since they didn't focus on Percy any more. BUT he was really only missing in the first one (when he is literally missing).

It was actually really nice to see other characters get to take more page-time - I think one of my favorite characters is Leo. I also thought the introduction of the Roman aspects of the gods to be an awesome touch. Especially because, as is made evident by the direction the story takes, the Romans adopted the Greek gods, but their personalities were slightly different, as the Romans emphasized different values than the Greeks did.

I loved the way those differences were woven into the two camps and the values the two camps had. I was also glad that everyone was separated for only the first two installments. I hate when the separation drags on just to cause issues.

I read these really fast because I needed to know what happened next, so I'm thinking this is going to require a reread soon.
