What Small Sound: Poems by Francesca Bell, Francesca Bell
4.0
The thing I admire most about the poet, Francesca Bell, is the fact that she "never completed middle school, high school, or college" as her biography states, and yet she writes with such brilliance and honesty. I like the narrative tone of her poems and their sense of embodiment. My favorite in this collection is "Sorrow is Innate in the Human" in which she writes about a baby entering the world crying and the powerful last line: "So human the burden of grief/she brought with her."
