Hunger by Knut Hamsun

5.0

Feels like a precursor to novels in the 1920s from Hemingway. Stream of consciousness story from a poor Norwegian writer seeking to find himself artistically. The background noise the entire time is the main character's hunger, it makes decisions for him, causing him to act erratically and often times against his self interest; it may as well be a character all on its own.
