House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

I’ll read anything by Sarah J Maas. I love the worlds she creates. And she manages to sneakily foreshadow and pluck the perfect little bits into the exposition without making it obvious that it’s going to be important later. Everything comes back around and ties into the bigger picture in some way. She’s a very smart writer.

That being said, the exposition is quite long in this one. It took me a while to fall in love. But it’s a new world and a new series, so it’s important to to get a sense of the rules
of the world and a feel for the characters. About halfway through, she starts bursting bubbles and connecting dots, and that’s when she hooks you! Then it’s fireworks through til the end!!

I can’t wait for the next one!
