Rebels at Sea is written in an easily accessible narrative style explaining the role that privateers played during the American Revolution.  The book informs the reader of the economic impact that American privateers had on British trade and the resulting economic pressures that impacted the progress of the war.  Land based military activities are the usual focus of books about the Revolution.  Rebels at Sea reminds the reader that military activities on water were also significant to the outcome of the Revolution.
