I wanted to love this book but nothing about it really hooked me in any way. Only by the very end did I find myself caring about a few of the characters; they just weren't developed enough to make me feel invested in them. This book openly nods to many classics such C.S. Lewis's work but I found it to pale greatly in comparison. I was looking forward to reading the whole Wildwood series but truly there was nothing about the ending of this book that makes me feel compelled to read on.
