Endless Night
by Agatha Christie
If you've ever read any of Hemingway's work you might find yourself wondering if "Endless Night" is not one of his own stories. I continuously drew parallels between this story & Hemingway's writing style & was confused as to how Christie decided on this style of book, story, & plot.
If you have not read any of Christie's works & this is your first introduction to her novels, I would suggest you not start with this one. If it's too late to turn back & select another book of hers to begin the immersion into her world, please note that she has written stories of greater wonder than this.
The story is pleasant enough to read but, one does expect a certain style when reading books by certain authors. This does not feel like an Agatha Christie book at all. The story was a bore & was not one in which I was very invested; plot or development-wise.
I will say that the beginning of the story was decent; the descriptions & flow of the character's personalities (dull as they may be) were not horrendous to read. However, at about the halfway point of the story, I was bored & began looking forward to anything happening (literally anything). It takes a long while for the 'twist' to be revealed & when it does I find myself eager as I knew that the end of the book was near.
