"If you wanted, I would burn down the world for you."

Based on the tropes alone (grumpy/sunshine, protective man, I hate everyone but you), I should have loved Twisted Love. But unfortunately, I didn't. I found the book to be clichéd and overly hyped. There were some moments that were enjoyable, especially at the beginning, where we focused on Operation Emotion, but things very rapidly devolved from there.

As for Ava and Alex, I just thought they were very unrealistic characters. Ava's trauma history and her sunshine attitude seemed very incongruent until they all of a sudden became relevant and I just couldn't take Alex seriously - I'm supposed to believe he became a billionaire before 15? I'm used to suspending belief for books, especially romance books, but this was a stretch too far. Also, I couldn't get behind their romance. I could see that they were attracted to each other, but Alex being 'in love' with Ava felt too abrupt.

I also died inside when he started to sing.

But, I always give authors who are new to me a second chance to win me over, so I guess I'll try the next book.
