Great Big Beautiful Life
by Emily Henry
I was excited for this book but felt sadly let down. For the good, I liked the Margaret Ives storyline. I found myself invested in Margaret’s retelling of her family saga and the way the loss of significant relationships (sister, husband) led her to become a shut-in for so many years. However, the romance between Alice and Hayden felt rushed and superfluous. One of the things that Em Hen does really well is create tension between characters, but there was no tension here. There was also nothing especially surprising about the reveals that happened with Cecil and Jodi. And if I read once more about someone arching their eyebrow. Just not my fave of hers.
